Labor #2 : Like a virgin

Me : Nurse, kasih jahit trus jadi macam virgin balik ah..
Hubby : Kasih jahit bunga-bunga lagi...

That's how we felt after my 2nd delivery,
Happy (for hubby because he doesn't have to wait in the labor room for 12hrs like the 1st delivery) and RELIEVED (for me, no more perut katat/gatal and contractions)

19th February 2010, I took my morning bath and suddenly noticed there's a clump of yellowish with a little bit of blood discharge...the texture of the discharge was not slimy but more like jelly... and I said to myself...."This is it Os"

I MMSed to my sis Didi, but she didn't reply me...she was super busy at work. I wanted to show it to Hubby, and MIL pun curious mau tengok...Then MIL said "Itulah tu tanda-tanda dia..."

Noon, I went to pee and saw a bit spotting, but no contraction or sakit perut yet. When I saw Gaga took his noon nap, I took the opportunity and joined him...manatau terberanak juga tonight or tomorrow, I need the energy.

2.00PM, I felt a teeny tiny bit pain at the lower back.

3.00PM, I felt a very very mild contraction, I didn't timed it...maybe about 15mins apart. MIL ask to drive her to Donggongon, to buy some groceries and minum kupi...

3.30pm, While sitting at the coffee shop eating roti susu, I noticed the mild contraction become frequent like less than 10mins apart...SMS my sis Didi and Josie and Hubby about the mild contractions.

4.00pm, doing the final checklist for the Hospital bag.

4.57pm, posted "mild contraction" at FB ;)

6.00pm, Didi called saying that she showed the MMS to her friend Dr.Anna and afraid that the discharge was not a discharge but the membrane and asked me to go to the hospital immediately to do check-up.

Took my bath and washed my hair (very important).

6.15pm, I can feel the contractions are getting intense but still bearable, I just stop from anything I was doing and concentrate on breathing...

I wanted to skip dinner, because I knew like my first..I would throw up the dinner anyways, but MIL insist, because my SIL bought some sotong bakar tumbuk...takut saya kempunan.

6.45pm, and we're off to Hospital Likas. Informed my mom & dad.

7.22pm, reach Hospital Likas and informed Didi. Asked us to wait for Dr. Anna at Bilik Penilaian Kemasukan Pesakit.

7.45pm, the nurses took pity on me when I was enduring my contractions. They registered me and asked me take urine sample and check baby's heartbeat.

8.00pm, still no Dr.Anna. One of the doctor in-charge came...

Doctor : Macam banyak kali sudah ni contraction kau, bagus sia check berapa sudah dilation kau..

Me : Doctor, kalau sia beranak ni malam, sia mau minta epidural ah..

Doctor : OK, nah sister kau boleh buat untuk kau lah tu...

Me : Eh? family member mana boleh bikin kan?

Doctor : Oh ya....

Doctor : 5cm...

Whoah, 5cm already!!?? I thought baru 2-3cm, because I clearly remember on my first, I couldn't even bear the contraction pain when I was 4cm dilated.

8.15pm, Dr.Anna came
"...nah kan apa sia bilang" she said and called my sister,
"Uih...5cm sudah"......"siapa lagi..!!?? your sister lah"
"...and she wants epidural"

passed her phone to me..

Didi : Tidak payahlah tu epidural Os, kau tahan saja...tidak lama lagitu 6cm trus tidak sudah payah epidural tu, skijap saja tu.

Me : Uih ko gila...mesti sakit tu nanti kalau time beranak tu. Kasih lah Di...pleeeeaaseee!!!!

Didi : Kami betul-betul sibuk ni di sini Os, kalau ko mau 10.30pm baru lah.

Me : Hah!!!!! punya lama....please lah Di, sakit tu...

Didi : Bah nanti sia turun.

Me : Thanks Di.

8.50pm, different doctor came,

Me : Kamu yang bagi epidural? (with a wide smile face)

Doctor : Oh mau check dulu dilation tengok sempat bagi kah tidak ya, sebab mau dekat satu jam since kena check dilation.

Me : Kasih sempat lah doctor...

Doctor : 6cm.....macam tidak sempat epidural ni. Nurse put her into the labor room NOW!!!

In the labor room, the contractions was getting unbearable, I was practically pulling my hair to tahan sakit. Breathing technique was totally out...

Me : Nurse kamu tidak bagi ubat tahan sakit kah ni? jarum ka??

Nurse : Tidak. Itu dari arahan doctor saja tu....

What the H!!!!

One of the nurse check on my dilation again...."7cm...ooops" I felt my waterbag broke.

and they immediately called my husband to go into the labor room...

When the next contraction came, they asked me to push...I pushed and pushed...

Seperti biasa, the nurses and the midwife will motivate for me to push...but I felt so weird when the midwife said "Yes Suzie...push Suzie...GOOD!!!"

Suzie??? is she referring to me or my bobong?... "Bukan Suzie...Joyce!!" I think I corrected her a couple of times, bulih lagi tu nurse ketawa...

The labor room was so hot, I think they forgot to turn on the air conditioner earlier, I was sweating like crazy...but thanks to my dear hubby, berabis he lap-lap my peluh :) and also tolong sambut my muntah. Yes, as I predicted...I puked during my labor, but the good thing...right after I muntah, the midwife said I was fully dilated and I can push on full force.

...I pushed and I pushed like I want to berak..."Uih sakit oh..!!!", "Memang sakit" the nurse replied...finally the baby's head was out...then I gave one final BIG push....and she's out completely at 10.20pm. Actually it was 10.19pm to be exact, but kataulah kan kalau parents taik numbur.
Fuh...I never felt soooo relieved in my entire life!!!

I remembered on my 1st delivery that I can't imagine gone through another labor...but for this 2nd time, all I can say is...so cepat!! Is it maybe because its my 2nd? or kuat jalan/shopping sana bawa khemah? hehe...

I gotta say that I had the best midwife ever, even though she said my name wrong at the first place...but I can never do it that easy without her help and most importantly her motivations. Thanks Staff Nurse Winia.

and last but not least... for this 2nd delivery, I want to give myself a pat on my shoulder for doing it without any pain killers, tapi actually tidak sempat hehe...

32 weeks

What??!! Less than 60 days more??...

So far I already did yang paling banyak kerja mau buat dulu, that is washing baby's clothes, wash and fold lampin and Pre-wash newborn Cds... pairing all the mittens & bootees, making sure the wipes & wash cloths is enough...

When i was neatly putting the baby's cloths into the drawers few weeks ago...my hubby said to me "Lamaaaaaa lagi bah kau beranak...neeeeext year!!" I just ignore him... I have a feeling this baby will come out early than the EDD.

Wah, so many things more to do...so little time!!! I need to get the baby cot ready, tilam, bantal & bantal paluk....hospital bag...wash and sterilize baby bottles and breastpump and a few pink stuff for this baby #2.

Talking about breastpump, I manage to get a few from my wishlist ;)...I hope I can get more of my wish list "done" ;)

As for my physical self, i'm glad that my feet hadn't swollen yet like my previous pregnancy, but my sister said my hidung kambang :(. At first, I denied that I have hidung kambang, but after I saw pictures of me during the christmas celebration recently...urgh!! I looked so bunting...

and I HATE LEG CRAMPS!!!!

2nd Trimester

My 2nd trimester had passed just like that...punya skijap. Meaning..I have a smooth 2nd trimester.

My morning/evening sickness were gone, I can feel the baby is kicking, very active compared to Gaga...my armpits getting darker...so bida!! and so is my nipple(due to hormones that affect pigmentation of the skin) and its getting sore..I noticed that I already produce colostrum yay!!(when I picit, looks exactly like minyak). I'm so looking forward on the next breastfeeding, semangat oh kan!!

As I entered my 1st day of 3rd trimester, I had the most painful like something piercing right under my rib every time I took a deep breath or yawn...ouch!! I went to see the doctor next thing in the morning..and the doctor said, it is common during pregnancy and she can't do anything about it, I just have to control my breath saja.

Dr.B :"Jadi tahan sajalah tu sakit sampai beranak.."

(I'm like, WHAT!!!!??? )
Me :"Punya lama lagi sia mau beranak doktor!!, 3 bulan lagi..."

Dr.B :"Tidak juga bulih makan painkiller, kalau mau pun panadol sajalah...itupun tidak bulih makan banyak sangat.

Me : :(

Thankfully the pain subsides after 3 days...
Bring it on 3rd trimester...

Baby #2 Wishlist

I should be doing this loooong time ago when Farrah tagged me on her baby #2 wishlist, but I thought last time I'm not pregnant on No.2 yet, so now I do lah...since I'm already preggy kan ;) Tapi kan, Farrah's wishlist macam best oh...so kebanyakan yang dia list, sia pun mau hihiihi...

This wishlist is mostly what I want, it is not importantly needed...but getting it would make me and baby no.2 life more easier ;)

#1. Bengkung/Girdle
Well, I regreted that I did'nt wear any bengkung on my 1st baby...my bulging tummy looks terrible... exactly like the belly bandit "before" picture...after my first delivery...soooo bida!!

I also read, wearing a bengkung is not just for kempis perut...it is also support your back and ease the backpain while breastfeeding. My back used to hurt a lot while breastfeeding because of the strain and positioning, so I prefer BFing laying down that sitting-up...oh my back!!!

I would love getting a good bengkung like Belly Bandit or Bengkung moden, but punyalah mahal!! Tapi for perut and my back sake...i should be getting one of these or just a slightly murah punya bengkung yang still works the same.

#2. Electric Breastpump
I have a manual breastpump that was a hand-me-down from my sister. I was OK with a manual breatpumping, saya lagi yang SAHM, but with an active toddler and baby no#2...i think I should be getting the electric one with double pumping...save my time and no more sore hands!!!
I was eyeing the Ameda Lactaline or the Medela freestyle, but again...very the expensive!! Kasih lah saya strike jackpot ni kali...PLEASE!!!

#3. Nursing Top
Remember when i blogged about just wearing a tube top under a regular shirt just enough for me. It's fine by me, until I saw one of my friend using a nursing top and breastfed her baby... she looked so effortless and the baby was so comfortable...I was like, wow!!! I have to get one of those nursing tops. I don't have to slide my shirt from the bottom all the way to the breast, because nursing tops have special secret layer, so the baby can easily access the nursing openings...

Yes, ladies...we're expecting a baby GIRL this time and I'm smiling from ear to ear.

I went for a scan yesterday and the doctor immediately confirmed it..."Can you see the 3 lines between the legs? that means bobong"...no he did not say that exactly lah hehe.

Those who read my previous blog on shopping online for baby cloths, already knew that I always complained that boys clothing don't have that much cute variety that girls clothing and I soooo want a baby girl. I'm gonna go crazy this time nYAHAHAHAHA!!!!...habis berlubanglah bank account saya (and hubby...hihihi)

1st Trimester

Lazy, tired, headache, sleepy, nausea, evening sickness, emotional, sensitive nose, cravings, feeling bloated, alot of burpings, the metal taste on the tongue and the list go on and on and on...

"Feeling sick is actually a good sign that your pregnancy hormone levels are high. This is produced in large quantities until your placenta takes over the job of maintaining and nourishing your baby at around 12 to 14 weeks. " babycenter.com

I should be happy that I feel sick, but to overcome the vomiting & nausea....urgh!!!
I had my 1st and worst sickness on my 9th week, i was vomiting the whole weekend until to the point that i'm afraid to eat anything...it's my fault actually that i was not careful with what I drink & eat.

It started when I had this registration appointment on friday morning at the Poliklinik. I rushed to the poliklinik and did'nt take any breakfast, that's my 1st mistake. The process of registration lasted until noon, I was sooo hungry i gobbled my lunch so fast until I was too full (2nd mistake). I'm so full the whole day, i skipped dinner (3rd mistake).

Saturday morning, I vomited twice, I thought maybe the morning sickness already kicking in. After breakfast, I felt sooo bloated, I wanted to burp but can't...so this silly mummy go and buy cola (4th mistake) and happily burps without thinking any consequences afterwards...Noon, we went to a wedding reception and all the food does not fancy me, so I only ate a little and drink more carbonated drinks (more mistakes). After wedding... went home...took a little nap.

Saturday evening, started feeling nausea and vomiting...then only I kelam kabut went to search online how to cure the sickness....thank goodness my hubby took pity on me and made a hot ginger drink (ginger is the best remedy for sickness in pregnancy). After a few burping and hours later, I felt better.

So now, my everyday drink is either ginger tea or ginger honey. I try to avoid gassy drinks, spicy and fried food. If I crave for cola...I just took a sip lah. Takut lagi jadi macam tu incident.

Looking forward for 2nd Trimester. Till then. ;)

New Ticker

Yes...i am finally pregnant hihihi... about 11 weeks already now.

We're trying to conceive (TTC) since early this year. I had a false alarm once, I really thought I was pregnant, the test i took looked very positive, I mean the 2 stripes was so terang i immediately MMSed to my closest friends & family, and announced the supposedly "good" news to my family members...1o days later, Kuang kuang kuang...i got a bleeding...macam piriet lah. Well , its my fault I didnt confirmed it first with my obgyn doctor, trus announced to everybody.

About this 2nd pregnancy, i took my 1st test when im expecting my 1st day of mestrual cycle...yeah I know!!! i'm that desperate kan...

I actually had nightmares that someone thought that i'm pregnant already and I know that i'm not.. what they saw was my lunok only... :(

after a few weeks and 2nd test, 3rd test, 4th test fifth test... all positive..!!
What?? i'm sure all of you expectant mommas had more than 10 tests mah!!!..I really need to be sure this time..

I went to see my obgyn doctor, and wanted him to scan my tummy and to confirm that i'm pregnant...then he said "yes Joyce, you are about 5 weeks pregnant..." Yay!!!!

Baby Hair

I think most of the moms have experienced this...my hair gugur few months after delivery. The hair falling is so tremendously banyak, I even blame on the confinement rule yang cannot wash hair.

I was on salon one day to set my hair for a wedding reception and washed my hair at home so the salon person doesnt have to cuci my hair, you know lah kan how they gosok/garu sampai tercabut tu scalp kalu bulih...but the toukey said konon she doesnt believe in all the hair loss after pregnancy, and said my hair is oily & thats the reason my hair gugur...trus satu gonggom bah my hair gugur that day... :( I bet the sink sumbat tu just because of my hair.

Thank goodness, hair loss is finally over & now my front hair nampak berdiri.... so bida!!!!!

Labor #1 : Heavy Duty

My first few words to the nurses who changed my hospital gown after I woke up after giving birth, was "Heavy duty juga ni beranak kan...gilaa"

I felt a mild contraction on monday morning around 9am...I was chatting with my cousins & asked me to time my contraction, but didnt kira the timing, coz belum lagi that sakit. I told Gerry about the contraction at noon...and remind him to finish the baby cot, trus baru mau pigi cat..!!

3.30pm : woke up from my afternoon nap, I felt it more intense and start timing it...15mins apart.

5.30pm : Down to 8mins apart...SMSed Didi about my contraction & she said bulih sudah pigi Hospital. But I said, sya mau mandi dulu & cuci rambut..."if I terberanak tonite sure cannot cuci hair for 1 month.."

7.00pm : Gerry belum sampai lagi..contraction 5-6mins apart...Didi & MIL offer to send me to Hospital, but sya mau Gerry juga hantar. Hehe..

8.00pm : Arrived Hospital Likas. Didi did the check-up on me....& she yang juga kurik-kurik my bobong, & I saw her glove ada darah.

9.00pm : Change to pink hospital gown. Check-in Wad Kenanga 2. Gerry takajut, coz he did'nt expect im gonna beranak sudah soon. Dia fikir bulih balik rumah lagi.

After 9.00pm I didnt bother to look at the time. Contraction is sure sakit, but still bearable. Muntah my dinner...there goes my energy.

10 something pm, Didi came with mama...checked my bobong again & i'm 4cm dilated. She told me, the nurses tidak berani check my bobong, dunno why...

Half an hour later, nurses came with trolley bed and transfer me to the labor room.

Didi broke my waterbag...

Cannot stand the pain & demand for epidural...I think Didi got irritated by me, coz balik-balik saya tanya where is the epidural doctor...and she said "Kau fikir kau saturang saja kah patient di sini hospital.." kuang, kuang, kuang...

I was in the labor room for 12hrs...and been pushing for 2hrs. There's when I pushed they said..."aaah ngam lah tu, ajan lagi" & I pushed again..."...mmm salah tu cara ko ajan..." tapi samaaa saja sya push dari tadi lagi, I really dunno what's the difference.

At 7am, I'am already 9cm dilated but it stucked there until 9.30am....punya lama!!! nasib ada epidural...

Berabis lagi phone Gerry bunyi-bunyi kena call from family members if sya sudah beranak ka belum, sampai habis phone battery dia.

Ada lagi ketawa sama-sama tu mid-wives sebab epidural kan, sya tidak rasa sakit pun...sempat lagi minta cermin , sebab mau tinguk sampai mana tu kepala kluar...

Every half an hour or an hour, I can hear babies crying of being born...there's time where Gerry told me i'm the only one left in the wad bersalin who belum beranak lagi, every room was empty except for room 7. There this one moment I was pushing..everyone was "ya!! push lagi..!!push lagi..!!" & ada juga bilik sebelah pun "ya!! push lagi..!!push lagi..!!"...the mid-wives said to me, "hah Joyce, bertanding lah kamu, siapa dulu keluar....then we heard baby cries di sebelah bilik...I was so frustrated.

The epidural started to wear off & it was really-really painfull...tidak bulih lagi senyum-senyum. Sudahlah I can't drink water, only a few sips & to kasih basah-basah my bibir...trus ada juga Gerry kasih minum sya holy water, hahaha!!! Holy water from my mom kana bawa that morning when Didi minta hantar baju.

The doctor said its been too long & mesti vacumm. But the mid-wives berusaha juga mau saya push supaya tidak kena vacumm. Last-last I gave up & said..."Ah..vacumm lah...".

When the specialist came, the room is sooo packed macam bulih sampai 20ppl...Gerry, Didi, 2 mid-wives, 1 doctor, 1 specialist, 1 paediatric doctor, & lots of training doctors...sya pun tidak paduli sudah.

Punya slow lagi tu specialist mau explain to me what he's gonna do...this & that...sudahlah orang kesakitan the contraction...even when he gunting my bobong pun sya tidak rasa...then I saw him pull, punya berabis lagi dia pull..& I thought..kalau dia pun susah mau tarik..apalagi saya mau push.

Finally baby Abrey is out at 11.37am...I did'nt manage to look at his face, only his back & balabak, coz dorang trus bawa kluar immediately after potong the umbilical cord. Suddenly the room trus empty, tinggal me, Gerry & 1 mid-wife who jahit my bobong yang vusas...then sya trus patah.

Memang betul-betul heavy duty, really dunno if I can go through it again...

I dedicate this entry to Gerry & Didi who being there for me through labor. I love you both too!!

but most of all to Gerry who took care of me & baby Abrey...

Stretch Marks!!

This is how bad my stretch marks looks like, I swear I did not scratch it....I've been using soooo many brands of stretch marks oil/lotion that contains vitamin E from the cheapest Pureen to the most expensive Colonial Dames, pun sama juga...

Punya sakit hati sya beli the Colonial Dames oil, cost me RM59.90, can buy 1 Drybees pocket worrr, and this oil habis 2weeks saja...but I made Gerry pay for that oil lah, but still!!!

Lesson #16

How u guys do it..??

To all mamas who is working and taking part-time classes and have kids while pregnant...I just wanna ask...how do you guys do it??....

Last week, I was so stressed-up, working with 2 midterm exams coming, baby getting heavier plus did'nt get much sleep..(because of the online shopping...*wink*wink*). I told Gerry that I don't want to go to work anymore, because i need some rest & i have'nt finish packing & washing all the baby's cloth...but he said, just tahan & it will be a few days more untill my last days of work...I cried myself to sleep...:( Itupun baru pregnant, belum lagi after beranak.

Then, how about the others yang i know...My friend Lelen who is taking same course with me, have 2 kids...last 2 semester...after beranak boleh lagi ambil final exam. My cousin ollol also have 2 kids now, just delivered a baby girl also working and taking extra classes, and my sis-inlaw Uloi, working and taking her PHd...while taking care of her baby girl...How u guys do it..??

That's what my gynae Dr. said when he confirmed us the baby's gender.

Yep, its a boy. Now back to square one, since kami cari nama perempuan saja all this while... and of course my mom-in-law is the happiest person to hear the good news... ;-) hehe..

Punya susah cari nama lelaki..!!! I've been to so many baby names websites...tiada yang ngam. If betul-betul cannot cari ni...kasih taruh Gerry Jnr sajalah, paling senang..

Water Retention

This is what I get from my intensive 3-day shopping spree at KL last week with my mom in-law and sis in-law. My ankles and feet had swollen so much i cant even fit my shoe that I recently bought for christmas... tiada shape sudah my kaki... :(

My tummy had grown twice as fast since last week, like macam suddenly tiba-tiba besar this week...

So big kan the difference..!!! 10 more weeks to go...kalau besar lagi...habis lah mau "ajan" ni...

Being Pregnant

I'm 28weeks now...im tired sudah mau tau tu baby's gender. Asal the baby's healthy is fine by me. We havent picked out a boy name yet. Katau lah kalau your husband yang football fan ni, semua tu nama-nama ganjil kluar..hmmm!!! I dunno why but I like it when people guessing on the gender...ada saja dorang punya comment.."Macam perempuan ni...sebab sampai siring tu perut kau bulat".... "I think lelaki ni, sebab belakang kau ada shape.." hehehe... My mom in-law mau lelaki but my dad may perempuan....

So far I enjoyed being pregnant, the kickings & baby moving is really exciting, except for the 1st 3 months my morning sickness but itupun not juga teruk, but i hate the feeling mau muntah & the smell of the sesame oil uugghh!! and of course the 2 stretch marks timbul recently...inda bagus tu Pureen Lotion...i should've stick to Josie's advice using Colonial Dames..tapi punya mahal!!!

I did'nt gain much weight during this pregnancy...macam baru 3kg. Ok jugalah coz i'm consider overweight juga. At first, worried jugalah, but Didi & my doctor pun relax saja tu...so ok lah tu mangkali, and everybody tidak notice sya pregnant untill my 7th months. They said tidak nampak my perut. Konon my badan besar or ada juga cakap coz saya jeemuk, so thats why tidak nampak, but i think sebab my nenen besar....hehe.

3months to go..!! so excited + nervous...
